About
Vainergill Thurnim (1997, Amsterdam) is a freelance dancer, choreographer, teacher and event producer whose work thrives at the intersection of emotion, movement and human connection.
Her artistic practice begins where words fall short. She is driven by the desire to create spaces where people feel truly seen and heard, not just with their voices, but with their entire being. In her vision, dance is more than performance, it is a shared experience where vulnerability is a strength and genuine connection emerges through the courage to reveal our inner worlds and receive others’. Every project begins with an inner impulse, a memory, question, experience, or feeling, and develops into forms that make these inner landscapes tangible and shareable. On stage, her work becomes a meeting place where empathy, presence and shared humanity take center stage.
Vainergill’s projects range from intimate duets like Ochtenddauw, developed under the ISH Talent Program at ISH Dance Collective, to large-scale productions such as Dat de zon altijd schijnt and BLINDSIGHT, co-productions with RRReuring Festival at Podium Mozaïek.
She graduated in 2020 from the Academy of Theatre and Dance, specializing in Dance Education, after completing the pre-education and MBO trajectury at the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts. With a foundation in both commercial and contemporary dance, enriched by (West) African dance techniques, she has cultivated a versatile and expressive movement language.
Vainergill has collaborated with renowned choreographers including Alida Dors and Roshanak Morrowatian, and has performed her own work at prestigious venues such as Het Nationaal Theater, Frascati, Podium Mozaïek, and CC Amstel. She works with organizations like Internationaal Theater Amsterdam (ITA), Korzo, Danstheater AYA, CREA, and DOX, teaching workshops to children and teens, as well as training and guiding the Docent Dans (ATD) students to discover their own voices through movement.
In addition to her artistic practice, Vainergill produces events, including the large-scale talent show Best of the West at Podium Mozaïek. Being deeply connected to the field in these diverse ways fuels her energy and inspiration, continuously expanding her artistic network and repertoire.
Passionate, dedicated, and hard-working, Vainergill is committed to fostering connection through movement, creating moments where audiences and participants leave transformed, seen, and inspired.
